Jonathan's story
Hi. My name is Jonathan and my story starts like this:
When I was 9, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and up to that point my
two favorite things were playing hockey and riding on motorboats.
My mom took me to my first sailing class when I was 11, and from then on I was in love.
I was like a little kid with ice-cream: I couldn't get enough of it.
Over the past few years, I have improved my sailing skills - mostly on Optis. All this time,
my entire family had been greatly involved with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society .
One day I just happened to be looking on the LLS website and I came across the
Leukemia Cup Regatta. I knew this was the one for me!
So I looked into it a little more, and realized that it was at one of the amazing yacht clubs
that I had raced at: Sayville Yacht Club. So that's when I decided to be a part of this inspiring race.
Last summer I had the best time sailing the Great South Bay with LLS, and
I can't wait to be there again next year.
Thank you, Sayville Yacht Club and LLS!
